Valencia Street Circuit

All the details of the Valencia European Grand Prix

Almost two months after knowing that Valencia will have its Formula 1 Grand Prix, we already know most of the main points of the route where the race will take place. In formula1-valencia.com I wanted to make a short summary of the key characteristics of this street circuit in Valencia.

Top Speed. According to the test and simulations conducted by computer technicians, it's been determined that the top speed of the cars will be 323 kph, probably the highest speed ever achieved in a street circuit.

Length. The circuit will have a total of 5.473,5 meters (about 5 miles), one of the longest in the Formula 1 calendar. The pilots will drive clockwise, and the estimated time to complete a whole lap will be approximately 1 minute and 37 seconds.

Track width. The width of the asphalt at Valencia will range between 12 and 15 meters (13.1 and 16.1 yards). Unlike tracks like Montecarlo, it will be possible to overtake in the Valencia Street Circuit, so the races will be more exciting...

Curves. The circuit will have 25 turns, (11 left and 14 right). The downforce required will be higher than in most of the other circuits worldwide.

Boxes and Pit Lane. They will be much longer than usual: 657 meters (720 yards) and probably will be located in the sheds 4 and 5 of the port of Valencia.

Capacity. It is estimated that approximately 100,000 people will be able to enjoy the race from the bleachers.

The rotary bridge. Perhaps, the star of the future street circuit. The cars will fly at about 207 kilometers an hour on the inner basin of the port of Valencia. The bridge will allow traffic in the naval port facilities while it held the European Grand Prix.

The works. The estimated date for completion is June 2008. (fuente FORMULA1-VALENCIA.COM )
